Janina Strouse comes to Youth & Family Services from Marburg, Germany, where she completed both her
undergraduate and graduate studies with a concentration in Clinical Psychology. Prior to graduation from the
program with a Master of Science degree in Psychology, she also conducted extensive research and wrote
her thesis on separation and divorce programs for adults. Janina continues to work for the department of
Psychology in Germany on an international basis through Prevention and Health promotion research projects.
Her clinical experience also includes work at a partial hospital program and a school based program for
children with a history of abuse and neglect as well as behavioral problems and disorders. Janina has
conducted research on the prevalence of mental health issues in children whose parents have been
diagnosed with depression or substance abuse. Her goal is to implement prevention programs designed to
address the needs of children of mental health and substance abusing parents. She is currently working
toward licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
Janina’s areas of specialty include separation and divorce, affective and psychiatric disorders, eating
disorders, attention deficit disorder (ADD)/ attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and behavioral
problems/disorder. Janina’s treatment experience has also included parenting, social and study skills,
couples counseling, family counseling, and alcohol and substance abuse counseling. If you would like to
