| The Prevention Team is responsible for providing science based, age appropriate curricula to the Upper Perk schools as well as some of the surrounding school districts. They also develop and present programs that are tailored to the specific requests and needs of their audience. The team also facilitates parenting workshops at various locations throughout the community. The Prevention staff has over 35 years of combined experience working with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of situations including pre-school, elementary and high school levels. If you have or know a child who attends any of the Upper Perkiomen district schools chances are that he/she has heard of or attended a program offered by the YFS Prevention Staff. Some Prevention programs include the Peace & Harmony Fair and Diversity Symposium both held at the Upper Perk Middle School, a Bully and Harassment Awareness Program held at the Upper Perk High School for ninth grade students, the Educational and Adventure Based Learning Experiences Project (ENABLE) also held at the Upper Perk Middle School. | TEENAGERS The teenage years can be difficult to navigate. In this age of drugs, violence and peer pressure it can be harder than we can imagine to come out of the teenage years with your self esteem and confidence in tack. YFS offers an adolescent support group. The purpose of this group is to give teens an opportunity to listen to their peers and offer support and advice with the gentle nurturing of a YFS counselor present to facilitate communication and provide objective input. If you or your teen is interested in joining the adolescent support group simply contact the YFS office at 215-234-9372 |
