About Youth and Family Services
of Upper Perk
ABOUT US
Youth & family Services is dedicated to developing and
strengthening healthy relationships, and to promoting the
well-being of children, families and individuals
Youth & Family Services will be a comprehensive
community resource, responding to the needs of a growing
and diverse community, creating and implementing
services and programs that strengthen individuals, families
and communities.
Youth & Family Services has been a valuable community
resource for 38 years.  Since it's beginning, YFS  has
provided families, couples, individuals and the community
with much needed information and services.

Originally established to "adapt to the community needs;
serve as a referral point for schools, police, social
services and other agencies; be a prevention center to
deal with problems faced by community youths; and be
recognized by (the) state as a referral agency for juvenile
probation" Youth & Family Services was called the
Sunshine Awareness House.  While the original intent was
an open door youth safe house facility designed with
assisting troubled youths YFS has remained faithful to its
founders by continuing to provide to services to the young
people of this community  it has also expanded to serve
the community's families and individuals as well.

The location and name of the facility have changed over
the years as well. The pictures at the right of this page
show the changes in  name and location over time.  The
original location was 511 Main Street in Pennsburg, PA
with the name The Sunshine Awareness House, the
second location was a farmhouse on UPSD property with
the name The Upper Perkiomen Youth Services Bureau
and now resting behind the Marlborough Elementary
School with The Nature Center as the backdrop is Youth &
Family Services of the Upper Perkiomen Valley.  The
location, the name and even the staff have changed over
the years but the dedication to and support of the
community remain steadfast.
We currently have 11 staff members performing a variety
of tasks and services.  As well as a 11 Member Board of
Directors comprised of local community and business
people dedicated to the Upper Perk community and it's
continued success and well-being.  To see a list of the YFS
